Father, the second Psalm is a clear picture of the haughtiness of America. She has methodically and premeditatively tried to remove You and references to You from public life. We still hear politicians close their speeches with the words, "God Bless America." It must evoke the same response You had when You said of the Jewish leaders, "These people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me." (Isaiah 29:13) We have observed what happens when You and Your commandments are removed from life. Like air rushing to fill a vacuum, sin raises its ugly head. People live to gratify their sinful natures or they maintain a degree of morality while denying the very Author of morality.
Today we honor people who have been gifted by You with athleticism or brilliant intellects without honoring You. When one of these people do give You thanks, that portion of their interview is edited out. It sounds like Psalm 2. How foolish to think they can fight against You. They mistakenly think that You have weighed them down with chains when, in reality, a relationship with Your Anointed Jesus frees us from the chains of sin.
Jesus is the King who will come again to establish His physical kingdom and reign. The Word right now, He offers forgiveness, salvation, and His spiritual reign in a person's life. Your Word says that You will have the last laugh against those who refuse to bend their neck and submit to Jesus.
Before that time comes, would You draw many to Jesus. You said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field." (Luke 10:2) I'm asking this for Jesus' sake.
