If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves (2 Chronicles 7:14)
A lot of emphasis is usually placed on the "My people" and the "called by My name", but the first condition required is "humble themselves". Jesus humbled Himself when He washed the feet of the disciples. Here was the Creator, appearing to be lowering Himself to the role of a servant in the household. Yet, He did not see it that way. He was showing His disciples that all who lead must also be willing to serve. Now, more than ever, we need humility in government. Men and women, led by God, who are servants to others, with a servant's heart. Father, we bow humbly to You, acknowledging that our strength is not sufficient to change our ways, our human ways. We need to seek Your face and Your guidance in all situations in our lives. It starts with humility...and a heart bent toward service for Your Glory. May Your Spirit lead us each step of the way. Amen.
